Back in the final days of the last century, I started calling Victoria by the magical name Pixie—because pixieish she undeniably was. A couple of years later, I wrote a surreal Christmas play about a mischievous, toe-eating creature made of cheese called a Shpriken. One day, while I was jokingly threatening to bite Pixie’s toe, she said I was just like that cheesy Shpriken. Soon our friends were calling us Shpriken and Pixie—or simply the Shprixies, as they economized on syllables.
ShprixieLand is our quirky mountainside studio-home overlooking Kootenay Lake in British Columbia, where we’ve spent the last two decades weaving colour, pattern, humour, and meaning into our handmade, slab-built ceramic pottery.
Together, we create maximalist, lace-impressed porcelain mugs, bowls, and dishes—functional art pieces that blend craftsmanship with storytelling. Each piece is an experiment, an exploration, and part of the evolving collaborative art project we’ve been shaping for more than 20 years.
We make pottery for people who like surrounding themselves with meaningful things—for those who love colour, story, craft, and the little rituals that bring enchantment into everyday life.
